2021-2022 Sunday School
Sunday School
has been changed to Children’s Church which will be held Sundays during 9:30am service starting October 3rd. This will run from the beginning of the sermon until the end of the service; however, if you would like your children to be communed with you, we would dismiss them at that time. Children's Church will be held on the stage in Alber Hall. It would be nice if parents would sign up to help take a Sunday to help. A sign-up sheet is available at the Welcome Center. |
CHILDREN’S CHURCH
CHILDREN’S CHURCH is a time for your children (ages 3 through 6th grade) to have FUN and LEARN HOW TO BE A GREAT CHILD OF GOD. We leave the 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning church service following the reading of the Gospel. The story that we focus on is taken from the Gospel (or readings) of the day. This way the parents and children can, prayerfully, talk about it after church! Sunday, November 7th: The Gospel and our Children’s Church story was based upon the raising up of LAZARUS from the dead. A cave was created in our meeting room (upper open Sunday School rooms of 305-307). Trey volunteered to be LAZARUS and the others took part in circling him with strips of brown crepe paper to mummify him. He was placed into the cave and the others rolled the “stone” in front of the cave. A thank you to Audrey Faust who read the story as we created the visual. We learned how saddened Mary and Martha were when their brother, Lazarus, died; because Jesus could not get there in time… and we learned how Jesus returned him to life, even after he had been dead for four days. In the end, we were reminded to have faith in Jesus, that Jesus answers our prayers and that Jesus can do what we would believe to be the impossible! We made homemade LAZARUS PUZZLES. We saw an EXPERIMENT showing how sliding the paper off of a straw and crumbling it up really tight, then putting droplets of water on it, makes it whole again. Unfortunately, we did not have time to create our playdough cave, stone and characters. We did, however, have a little time at the end to have some FUN exercise time with balloon races with prizes. At the end, I always ask: 1. Did you have FUN? 2. Did you learn a little bit more about how to be a good child of God? Then we PRAY for His continued blessings upon us all. Faithfully submitted, Cher Theisler |
