Did you ever wonder what happens to memorial gifts given in memory of loved ones or in celebration of a special event?
I have been privileged to work with a great Memorial Committee since taking the chairmanship
in 2013. A set of firm guidelines inform our decisions when considering how funds are to be
used. I thought I would share with you what your memorial gifts have accomplished since 2013.
Memorial gifts come to us in varying amounts. While a few are large gifts, the vast majority
come to us as small gifts. All gifts are held in the Memorial Fund until such time as an
appropriate use is determined. When considering the use of gifts, we seek consultation whenever
possible with Pastor, family, and Committee members. We explore options and require quotes
before making a final decision and recommendation to the Church Council.
I’ve put together the following list so you might know how memorial gifts have been used over
the past 11 years. It is an amazing list and each item is a reminder of the many, many people
who have gone before us and the generosity of their family and friends.
Always feel free to contact the Memorial Committee at any time if you have an idea of how
future memorial funds might be used.
