This month we ponder the Spiritual gift of GOODNESS.

When think of goodness, I think of decency and kindness - Goodness is God’s will; it is the Spirit’s gift. The parable of the Good Samaritan teaches us what goodness is. It is not the position we hold in society or the nature of our heritage. It is our actions towards others. We are instructed to love one another as we love ourselves. As parents and adults we must role model this, nurture this, and praise this. We have powerful influence upon younger ones through what we say and what we do as well as how we respond to our children’s actions. I hope each of us will stop to see the goodness they so innocently give and praise them for it in ways they can understand and feel proud for doing God’s will.

I encourage you to actively look for opportunities to witness the Golden Rule and say how proud you are of a decent and kind choice a child has made. Actively look for situations to teach the children how to apply the Golden Rule if they are struggling. Assist them in asking questions like: How would you feel if you were in their situation? Or what would you be feeling if that person were you? Building compassion is vital to learning to display goodness. Let’s all try to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes like Jesus did, coming from heaven, immersing himself in our world, bearing the burden of our sins. We can do the same, I think We can set aside our “me” focus and slip on a compassionate “other” focus just like Jesus did for us and just like the Good Samaritan did who tended to the wounds of a man left in the street beaten, naked and penniless.

I am thankful for the opportunities I have had to witness the decency and kindness the congregational youth display. It motivates me to be a better Christian. I encourage each and every one of you when you witness goodness to say “thank you” and pray for the ability to do likewise. I encourage you to keep yourself open to the will of God and the gift of the Spirit.

“Holy Land, Jerusalem

Wednesday Evenings During the Seeds for Lent Classes
Wednesdays, March 16th - April 13th

During our K.I.D.Z. program, children will adventure to the “Holy Land, Jerusalem” where we will hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Each week we will explore a piece of the Easter story, beginning with Jesus being welcomed to Jerusalem and ending with Jesus rising from the dead.

Kids will get to hear, see and act out the stories. At craft time they will learn another viewpoint that drives home the daily lesson while being creative and helping others. Music time allows children to sing the Lord’s praises in a fun, energetic way, and we always find room for short videos and games!!

What a perfect way to help prepare our little ones for the upcoming Easter celebration! Please join us!!
