Seeds for Lent

There is something for everyone at Zion Lutheran Church! Join us every Wednesday during Lent for food, fellowship and learning. This is a program for body, mind and spirit for people of all ages. Make a commitment during Lent to tend to your faith, then watch it grow!

Beginnings (New Member) Class

The next Beginnings class, taught by Pastor Erv, will begin on
Sunday, March 20^th and will continue for five consecutive Sundays
from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

This class is for all  who are considering Zion as their church home. Individuals  who have a different or varied religious and/or denominational background are required to take this class.

Those wishing to unite with Zion by transferring from another Lutheran Church are not required to attend but are encouraged to do so. Pastor Erv will delve into the basic teachings of Lutheranism and will also touch on the privileges, blessings, and opportunities that membership at Zion provides. The location of the class has yet to be determined. More information will be forthcoming.

New members will be received on Sunday,
May 1st at the 11:00 a.m. worship service.

Zion Christian School

On Monday, February 7^th, Zion Christian School welcomed Veterans from Shepherd of the Valley and local Army National Guard members to create Valentines. The Valentines were sent to Military personnel in Afghanistan. Local news and newspapers were at our school to capture this event. This is the third year we have participated in this activity.

The school celebrated Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14^th, by passing out Valentines to their friends and teachers. Children brought special snacks in to share as well. Wednesday, February 16^th, our Busy Bees (3 and 4 year olds), Explorers (4 and 5 year olds) and our kindergarten class went on a field trip to the Skate Zone in Austintown, Ohio. Our staff and parents had a good time too! Please see pictures of our events on page 15.

 KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE

We invite you to attend our kindergarten open house on Tuesday, March 8^th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. or Sunday March 13^th from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. in our kindergarten classroom! Kindergarten features:

Meet Beckie!

We would like to welcome Beckie Donachie, who will be taking over the Office Administrator duties
as of March 1st! Over the past two weeks, Beckie has been working alongside Katie.

Beckie and her husband, Chuck, have been married for almost 16 years and live in New Middletown, Ohio. They have two children, Dusty, who is 23 and Dalton who is 13.

Dusty is a freshman at Youngstown State University, enjoys 4-wheeling and has a 5 year old son, named Tyler. Dalton is in 8th grade at Springfield Local School, plays baseball and football, enjoys hunting and fishing and is a member of the Ohio Glaciers Baseball Organization.  They attend Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Poland.

Beckie can usually be found at one of Dalton’s baseball events, spending time with her family or building computers. Beckie spent several years volunteering with the Springfield Township Baseball Association as the Board Secretary.
