For Your Summer Enjoyment!

A Good Book to Read:
The Illuminator by Barbara Rickman Vantrease, available from Amazon.com for $4.65. What a couple reviewers say:

A very absorbing and masterfully written novel that twines two stories together – a personal one of life on a manor in 1379 and a political one about the undercurrents that led, eventually to the Reformation. Vantrease has created a cast of characters you truly care about and will want to follow.  - Margaret George

A novel with something for every reader: young love, older love, political plot and intrigue and religious and philosophical adventure…each detail is telling, pitch perfect, important. The relationships are complex, engrossing. Vantrease’ feel for time and place is natural. This book absolutely glows. -Francis Sherwood

For those who would like, a reading group will meet in early August to discuss the story. Watch the bulletin and next Zion News for details.

A Good Place to Go:
The Home of Your Heart, via Yoga Class with Pastor Linda
Join me for a gentle yoga class on Wednesday evenings July 14th to August 18th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in the chapel. Get away from it all for a little while to quiet your mind, relax your body and calm your spirit. Return to life, renewed as if you had been on vacation (It may be even better than a vacation and at no cost!)  Everyone is welcome!

Shoes For Youth

“Shoes for Youth” is an annual project of Zion’s Service Ministry Team and Protestant Family Service to help provide resources of shoes for children in need.

To make a monetary donation, you may use the special envelope in your packet of envelopes for July, distinguished with a shoe on the front; or you may use a plain envelope labeled “Shoes for Youth”.  Checks should be made out to Zion Lutheran Church.

Donations can be placed in the offering plate or turned in at the Welcome Center until August 8th.

Thank you,
Service Ministry Team
